It seems that the essay component is graded holistically, which means that the marker will look at the essay as a whole, and not pick on every little error, much like the English 12 provincial exam,. That means that, while correct spelling and punctuation do matter, small errors will not hurt your results. Errors only become a problem when there are so many that the marker becomes distracted trying to decipher the intended meaning. A well-written 6/6 provincial exam essay could lose up to 3 marks if the language and errors distract from the meaning of the essay. For that reason, keep your writing simple.
